Regarding education costs, LePig said Maine, which is ranked No. 38 in the country in education, has 177,000 students and 127 superintendents, while Florida, ranked No. 7, has 3 million students and 64 superintendents.

“The problem in Maine is we have home rule,” LePig said. “It's local control, and as long as superintendents have control over the parents who have kids, you do not have a chance of having a decent school system.”

“The only people losing jobs are teachers,”  LePig said. “It's never superintendents, or assistant superintendents, or principals. I'll be the first to say that there's not enough money going into our classrooms, and too much going to the top end.”

LePig is one of two things.  He is either intentionally misleading you, or he's ignorant (I suppose he could just be an idiot).

What LePig does not want you to know (or is ignorant of) with regard to his statements above, are the layers upon layers of bureaucracy between the Florida Superintendents and the teachers in the Florida classrooms.

In Volusia County, FL (Lepig owns a home in Ormond Beach, so he should know better) answering to the Superintendent are:

Executive Assistant
Chief Operating Officer
Chief Financial Officer
Area Superintendent I
Area Superintendent II
General Counsel
Director of Instructional Service
Chief Academic Officer
Planning Director
Director of Legal Services
Director of Operations Services
Director of Financial Services
Director of Human Resources
Director of Community Information Services

...and there are more.

Each one of these positions above have their own, bloated staff with multiple layers.

The citizens of Volusia County Florida crave "local control" and are tired of Volusia County School's bloated bureaucracy.  Just ask "The 3 Moms".

If Maine were to adopt the Florida model, Maine's education bureaucracy would EXPLODE!

LePig is an idiot.

Out of curiosity. How many High Schools, how many middle schools, and how many elementary schools does Volusia County, FL have? Are there any magnet schools? How many students? Are any of those schools top 100 schools in the country? Are there any Charter Schools? How many private schools in Volusia County, FL? How do those Charter and private schools rate? Since Florida is where Common Core got its start under then Gov. Jeb Bush, can you confirm that students must pass proficiency exams to receive a diploma? What percentage of students achieve the required proficiency at each tested grade level?

How does all that compare to Maine schools?

Can you elaborate on the "each one of these positions above have their own, bloated staff with multiple layers?"

What is the per pupil spending in Volusia County, FL? What is the per pupil spending in Maine?

and BTW...Candace...you should know better too.  finger wag

You are a former resident of Volusia County, FL (Ormond Beach, with your buddy LePig), where you started and ended all of your failed businesses that the state of Florida has no record of.
