A little Fact Checking Of The Trumpster

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Trumpery: “As soon as I take office, I will ask Congress to fully eliminate the defense sequester and will submit a new budget to rebuild the military.”

Ask all you want...it ain't gonna happen.

Trumpery wants to increase military spending dramatically even though the United States already spends more than the combined militaries of China, Russia, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, Saudi Arabia, India, Germany, Italy and Brazil. Trumpery has offered no details (he never does, yet Trumpets swallow his say-nothing drivel hook, line and sinker) on how he would pay for his dramatic spending increases.

Trumpery: “The Navy is among the smallest it has been since 1915.”

True, and that's by design. Military commanders and experts have tried to explain to the buffoon (Trumpery) that he is ignorant of the ability of our Navy. Trumpery is "very, very, very" ignorant of what a warship could do a hundred years ago compared with the "tremendous" array of armaments, aircraft and surveillance equipment that today's Navy vessels have. Our ships carry cruise missiles, and our submarines can launch nuclear weapons. One aircraft carrier with its escort ships carries more firepower than most militaries on earth.

Trumpery: “I will ask my generals to present me a plan within 30 days to defeat and destroy ISIS.”

I thought you knew more about how to destroy ISIS than our generals?  I don't know, but that is what people are telling me. dunno

According to the Pentagon, ISIS is in retreat in Syria and Iraq due to the plans laid out by the Obama administration. Trumpery has stated that “cyber warfare, financial warfare and ideological warfare” should be used in addition to military action.  The United States, and "by the way" its allies, are already using these tactics, and have had "tremendous success" at targeting ISIS's financial sources by striking its oil-producing infrastructure and  seizing territory, thereby depriving ISIS of its tax base.  "And by the way", the generals he cited in his speech, are the ones who devised the current plan.

Trumpery: “We will also make it a priority to develop defensive and offensive cyber capabilities.”

The United States already has. The US was one of the first states to use a cyber weapon.  The Stuxnet computer worm wiped out many of Iran’s nuclear centrifuges in 2010. The "defensive" part is not easy for anyone, public or private.  All a terrorist needs is to find a single vulnerability in billions of lines of code.  Defenders need to find them before the terrorists do, something the United States is already attempting. Trumpery falsely promised he would find them all and “immediately protect” our networks.

Trumpery: “Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, is now flush in cash released by the United States.”

Trumpery claimed that the United States released $150 billion (actually it was more like $100 billion) to Iran. He didn't know (ignorant again) that the money came from Iranian assets frozen by the United States and released under the terms of a deal to limit Tehran’s nuclear program.

Trumpery also claimed that Obama paid “$1.7 billion in cash ransom payments.”  Trumpery once again was ignorant of the fact that the payments were made to settle an old arbitration case, not pay a ransom. The Obama administration acknowledged that it used the money as leverage, holding on to the payments until Iran released American prisoners ("very, very smart").  Since the US had already agreed to return the money, holding it back at the last minute until Americans prisoners were released was an "amazing" maneuver.
