Freedom & Liberty Essay Contest
*Deadline for submissions: April 30, 2009
*Must be a student of any public or private school in the State of Maine in the following two categories:
*Category 1. Grades 4-8 *Category 2. Grades 9-12
Rules:
1. Must have no help from anyone with the actual writing of the content of the essay, except guidance may be obtained on grammar, or researching information, such as via the Internet or Encyclopedic resources. But the origination of the essay must be yours’ alone.
2. Length must be no more than 600 words. There is no minimum word requirement.
3.Topic must be directly related to Freedom or Individual Liberty. This can include essays on historical or current events that affect individual liberties, the sacrifices made in the name of freedom, etc. Colonial times to present day America are appropriate periods to focus on, your choice.
4. Submissions can be sent electronically via email to mainefreedoms@yahoo.com or mailed to Philip Duggan, 195 Kansas RD, Milbridge, ME 04658. If mailed and you want your submission returned, include SASE with submission.
5. Submissions must include cover letter with the following information:
a. Full Name
b .Address
c. Phone Number
d. School and Grade
e. Age
f. Homeroom Teacher’s Name
g. Parent/Legal Guardian Name & Phone Number
h. Name and Phone # of Your Local Newspaper
