100 ideas- revisited

This is a copy of the ideas submitted to the Open Doar forum
under the subject of 100 ideas for improving our community. We only
came up with 58 then, perhaps we can bring it up to 100. If they get
completed I can highlight them in red.

1. Make crossing Lincoln Ave. from Waldo St. to Hannaford / Hosmer safer for pedestrians.
2. Make crossing Lincoln Ave. from Waldo St. to Hannaford / Hosmer safer for drivers as well.
3. plant some shrubs or cedar trees along the Strathglass Park side of Hancock St.
4. property maintenance code
5. paper mill tour
6. neighbor-to-neighbor check for people who may not have enough oil/heat this winter
7. Transportation service for elderly to hospital
8. safe way for pedestrians to cross from the information booth to the Food Trend
9. Keep the sidewalks clear for those with mobility issues
10. attractive walkway from the info booth all the way down the side of the entrance to the bridge/park/the "island"
11. Congress Street to a two-way street
12. Continue the sidewalks on Spruce, Maple, Swain, Main & Plymouth Ave.
13. support (cultural) projects like the Pennacook Art Center gallery
14. project the image of prosperity not the need for rehabilitation
15. Jobs, jobs, jobs - yes, good paying jobs
16. A sushi bar or an internet cafe
17. Skateboard Park support
18. selectboard and town manager reports posted here
19. other committee reports on this website
20. a link to meeting minutes on the town website
21. Have it so you have to register your cat
22. insight/feedback from visitors
23. transportation link to L/A - passenger rail
24. Develop a market niche for L/A reciprocity
25. a sign that makes Congress Street known as Business Rt 2.
26. dogs banned from Hosmer Field
27. KFC / Taco Bell
28. strict restrictions on additions to current properties
29. Lose a few Bar's
30. marketing this area to artists from other areas
31. Extended or shifted hours for voting polls- 9-6 excludes many and skews the vote
32. Keep the fire call boxes on the poles
33. call boxes could also work as an emergency call box
34. Museums
35. provide Wireless Internet to the entire downtown region
36. Develop more major summer events
37. better promotion of events
38. Play it Again Sports, Olympia or other shoe/sports store, Martguerita's (restaurant)
39. Para-transit service with flexible schedule: Rumford/Mexico/Dixfield
40. Broaden our tax base by joining Rumford and Mexico
41. a new modern GRCC built off the island
42. Island Green/plaza
43. remove wrought-iron fence at the park entrance
44. Congress St. area as a business district- home to banks, insurance agents, lawyers etc.
45. Hancock and Waldo St. block as "promenade", shopping district
46. commission a statue of Babe the Blue Ox
47. relocate Paul Bunyan
48. An investor's group
49. Move the Dare Park skate shack closer to the ice so kids don't have to climb the stairs with skates
50. Make a cohesive 5 year plan- market that plan to investors
51. All local laws, ordinances and codes should be available for viewing online.
52. A complete review of the Bylaws/Ordinances with special attention on those codes that restrict potential business and community development
53. Assure that the meetings are videotaped and played on the access channel.
54. Enhance our support for the skimobile tourism industry.
55. An adopt-a-hydrant program
56. Enforce parking on one side of the street for some that aren't wide enough to accomodate two way traffic with parking and snow
57. Photos on the town website of all the town officers, assessors, chiefs, department and committee heads etc.

How did you get that list if the site is not up and running anymore.

Lol, you did the mobility issue, I did the ox and move Bunyan one. It took a while but they're being worked out....

#29---I was thinking of Diconzo's and The Penalty Box (but I guess that wasn't really a bar. I don't even know if they had a liquor license).

And your ox may well come into existence!

I can tell you right now Dogs will not be banned from Hosmer anytime in the near future.
