So Tea Partiers...you think the ACA is not working? Ha!

Mainers pay $99 per month for health exchange insurance
AUGUSTA — Mainers who signed up for health care coverage on the federally-run exchange are paying an average of $99 per month in premiums.
Nationally, people are paying an average of $82 in premiums after subsidies on the exchange.
The department said that the average monthly premium in Maine before subsidies was $443 and fell 78 percent with the subsidy.
More than 44,000 Mainers signed up on the exchange during the open enrollment period.

...and even with these big, bad government subsidies (which translate into huge savings for the average citizen), the ACA is still projected to save money over the long term!

You should read the comments associated with this SJ article. They are really comical! Anything that shows the ACA working is a lie! Of course, the two who commented are Tea Partiers, and anything "Obama" is EVIL! The Tea Party mantra: wa, wa, wa...boo hoo, boo hoo...

BTW...I'll bet Tea Partiers Carolyn and Danny will be the first in line when the time comes for them to collect their Social Security benefit, even though their benefit is funded by "the wallets of the rest of us"!

Here are 6 predictions of DOOM the Tea Party/Republican Party/Right-Wing wackos made regarding the ACA (a.k.a. Obamacare), which did not happen:
1. Enrollment will be low
As of June 12, 2014: 8.48M (Total)
Estimated Total, all sources: (23.6 M - 28.3 M) (Obama projection: 7-8 million)
2. People will not pay their premiums
As of June 12, 2014: 7.63M (Paid) - Signups exceeded expectations, and the vast majority paid.
3. More people will lose coverage cancelled by the ACA than gain it
As of June 5, 2014: The percentage of U.S. adults lacking insurance coverage in the first two months of the second quarter of 2014 is down from 17.1% in the fourth quarter of 2013 and from the 15.6% average in the first quarter of 2014. The current 13.4% average for the second quarter of 2014 is the lowest level recorded since Gallup began tracking this measure in 2008.
4. Insurance rates will skyrocket
As of June 18, 2014: Shoppers paid an average of $69 per month after tax credits for silver plans and had, on average, a choice of five health insurers and 47 plans. On average, monthly premiums for people who selected plans with tax credits fell 76 percent after tax credits, dropping the cost of the average monthly premium from $346 before tax credits to $82 after tax credits across all plan types. “What we’re finding is that the Marketplace is working. Consumers have more choices, and they’re paying less for their premiums,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell. “Nearly 7 in 10 consumers who signed up for Marketplace coverage are paying $100 or less for that coverage. When there is choice and competition, everybody benefits.” The Marketplace is also providing consumers more easily comparable, quality health plan choices than ever before. In 2014, there were a total of 266 issuers in the Marketplace by state, offering over 19,000 Marketplace plans across all ratings areas, excluding catastrophic plans. Overall, 82 percent of people eligible to purchase a qualified health plan could choose from 3 or more health insurance issuers, and 96 percent could choose from 2 or more health insurers in the Marketplace. In 2014, new issuers represent almost 26 percent of all issuers in the Marketplace, and the new Consumer Operated and Oriented Plans (CO-OPs) tended to have lower premiums than other plans. Early reports from the states suggest that additional issuers will be entering the Marketplace in 2015.
5. Young people will not sign up
As of June 24, 2014: Gallop - Newly insured Americans using the exchanges in the 18 to 29 age category are eight percentage points more prevalent than their percentage in the overall adult population, while representation of those 30 to 49 and 50 to 64 are five and four points higher, respectively. This means that the fears that the young would refrain from buying insurance, thereby fracturing the risk pools, don’t seem to be coming to pass.
6. Health costs will soar
As of June 26, 2014: On Wednesday, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis issued new estimates for how the economy and its component parts performed in the first quarter of 2014. The real surprise was health care. The supposed surge in health care spending was nowhere to be found. On the contrary, relative to the previous quarter, health care spending actually fell by 1.4 percent.
Overall, spending is still more than it was during the first quarter of 2013, which is arguably the most relevant basis for comparison. But it’s rising awfully slowly, which means that all of us have more money to spend on other things. And to the extent spending is rising, it’s mostly because more people are using medical care, not because prices are rising.
