Got the DVDs

Thank you to my wonderful family and friends. I can always count on you to send the DVDs of the Rumford Board of Selectmen's meetings and other events in the area in a very timely manner. Finished watching this batch just in time to read this. This latest batch was like watching the weekend crime or mafia marathons on the upper channels.

After watching the goings on for so many years, I shouldn't have been surprised to read the Selectmen and Town Manager are still insisting on spending an extra $300 to rent the American Legion Hall for the polling after the very lengthy and detailed discussion with the Town Clerk and audience at the budget meetings. The Clerk stated the election will cost about $10,000 but that $300 could be saved by holding the voting in the Auditorium.

Not surprisingly, the Town Manager argued for the American Legion claiming it was easier to access for the disabled and elderly but not without also reminding everyone that the town hall and auditorium are fully handicapped accessible. He ultimately resorted to "parking" limitations to justify spending unnecessarily to rent the Legion.

Looked and sounded like the town manager was going to stroke out when a couple of citizens (sorry didn't catch your names) suggested the town hall employees give up their assigned parking spaces for the day of the election so the voters, especially the elderly and disabled, would have a convenient place to park close to the handicapped entrance.

It got down right comic when one of Rumford's Police Officers (sorry didn't catch your name either, the audio isn't the best coming from the meetings) stood up and told the people that it would cost more than the $300 to rent the Legion to have one of them police the parking for the disabled.

One of those wise citizens who had suggested using the reserved spaces for the voters, then explained it wasn't necessary to have an officer out there, just cover the reserved signs with paper with voter parking written on it as the suggestion was not intended to reserve all those space for the disabled but for all the voters convenience.

Like I said, no surprise here that the big spenders are making sure they don't miss a single opportunity to spend more of Rumford's taxpayers money then necessary. Going to be interesting to see if the voters of Rumford are wise to these folks squandering their money and nix most of this budget.

And what's up with the selectmen and town manager's obvious vendetta against the Public Library, Fire and Parks Departments? The animosity those four selectmen and town manager have against the library, parks and fire departments is the freaky stuff of that new Stephen King series Under the Dome. And watching the serious ass kissing they got going with the police and public works is right out of a Chicago corruption flick?

Thanks again all for the DVD's watching these is better than any soap opera.

Embarrassed and Disturbed

The people of Florida are embarrassed and disturbed that this case has gone to trial. We are embarrassed our prosecutors are putting on this dog and pony show with witnesses who have done nothing but prove the defenses case for them. We are disturbed that a man who is attacked and defends himself instead of letting his attacker kill him has his life destroyed with this media circus and has his life and financial future put into ruins forced to defend himself in court for defending himself from a "gangsta" wannabe. We have all had to come to terms with the fact anyone of we law abiding citizens could have our lives ruined in an instant by those who are supposed to be protecting us for not submitting to the domestic terrorism of these punks.

Yes, it's true.  Some people want to adequately fund education and are willing to spend more.

"Finally what kind of scam you folks got going up there where the budgets can go up from the previous year, get rejected, 2nd proposal go up and I would be shocked if not rejected, but the school gets to operate on the newest biggest proposal until a real budget gets to voters they will propose."

The majority of the voting crowd at the meeting were teachers and employees within RSU 10. That should tell you something.

What it tells us is, there were more positive people at the meeting than negative? or maybe, the Tea Partiers were out partying and missed the meeting?  or, maybe the "Save Rumford" crowd is getting lazy...

I haven't seen a list of candidates to be elected by the voters. I'd of thought it would have been included in this article. Whoever gets elected is in for a rough however many months more likely years given the three the selectmen appointed. Looks like more of the same punish the voters  for not rubber stamping their budgets B*llsh*t  . Putting these three known for being disruptive  on this committee is sure to make it a train wreck . I thought this charter commission was the brain child of the selectmen. So why have they derailed the train   before it could even leave the station with these appointments .

...but we still love you Candice, Candace, Donna, Tracey, Tracy  , for your entertainment value .

Casey's resume lists her current work history in Rumford as publisher of the blog, RiverValleySun.com, since 2011, and as area founding director of the Community Pride Project since 2009. She also worked as the Maine Republican Party's field office coordinator in Rumford in 2012 and served as executive director of Maine Citizens for the Tax Break in 1998.

And, according to Casey, she worked in Ormond Beach, Fla., between 1998 and 2005, where she owned and operated three businesses: a pool and spa supply company, a golf course mitigation and irrigation operation and a computer consulting firm. They were all organized and incorporated under the umbrella of the pool and spa company.

The Sun Journal could not verify Casey's work history with any of the Florida ventures. According to the Florida Department of State, Casey incorporated four businesses in Florida on May 12, 2003: Pool & Spa Supply Company, Women to Women, Ethical Financial & Insurance and National Chemical & Maintenance Service. All were registered at the same address in Ormond Beach and all are now inactive.

Casey’s resume also lists employment as a financial consultant with Salomon Smith Barney in Ormond Beach, where she said she transacted sales of stocks, bonds and insurance products from 2000 to 2001. There is no record that Casey was ever licensed to transact such business in Florida, either through the Securities and Exchange Commission or the Florida Division of Professional Regulation.

The Sun Journal contacted Casey on Wednesday for more information to verify her broker license, and she restated that her job history and SEC license were all accurate as provided on her resume.

Residents elected six people to the Charter Commission: Ryan Palmer, 696; Christopher Brennick, 693; Roger Viger Jr., 658; Richard Greene, 638; Eric Davis, 586; and James Windover, 560.

Candidate Candice Casey received 393 votes.

It's no surprise Candice lost.  Voters didn't know if they were voting for Candice, Candace, Donna, Tracy, or Tracey Casey and if she lives in Rumford or with the governor in Ormond Beach, FL.
