"The most shocking facts came when the board was given the CPA's management report. Though the audit is not finished, the routine is for Harold Blake to issue a report in May of every year. The Committee was given the reports issued in May of 2008 that reflect on the 2007-08 tax year and the May of 2007 letter that covered 2006-07.In his report, Mr. Blake says that there has been a "total collapse of internal controls in Rumford Town Government". He also states that the town has been illegally drawing too much money out its Trust funds. He also states, "Finally, there has been, or appears to have been, an attempt to conceal a contingent liability." The Committee discussed at length that it appeared that an unofficial account had been created and monies transferred to it." excerpted from therumfordreporter.com's online report on Rumford's financial meeting

Which perceived enemy neck do you suppose is on the chopping block now?

Since the period covered by the report is 2006-2007, one would have to assume that this is a further attempt to assassinate the character of Steve Eldridge. And while there is little impact on the town of Rumford - spilled milk, etc. - it does provide a circuitous method of affecting him in Lisbon. The links between the Rumford Reporter and the Lisbon Reporter allows an article to appear in TRR then picked up in TLR: "As described in the Rumford Reporter, Steve Eldgridge has been implicated in fiscal mismanagement during his tenure there........" By reporting it in one site and referencing that story on the Lisbon site, it creates an artificial air of authenticity. More sources = more credibility. A very shrewd tactic! Probably untrue, but shrewd nonetheless. Just more of the personal vendetta against Mr Eldridge by certain "Rumford Citizens."
