Emery Evans:"It's time for the anti gunners to leave the country. There are plenty of other places to live where you can't have any firearms of any kind. Anti gunners are UnAmerican, and dont deserve any other rights or protections." Ironically, Emery Evans goes on to say: "you can't pick and choose which parts of the Bill of Rights you want to allow".

These types of comments I see being posted more and more on blogs. It would seem gun "nuts" only believe in the 2nd Amendment. To hell with the rest of the Constitution!

BTW, all you gun enthusiasts... your right to "bear arms" is guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution and has been upheld by the most conservative court and justice (Antonin Scalia - opinion for the majority) in history. It's "decided" and "settled" law which will not change no matter what your paranoid imagination believes and wacko NRA leader (LaPierre) says Obama, Democrats, and/or Republicans will do.

We are a nation of laws. If we are not, we might as well pull the plug on this "American Experiment" right now and descend into the hell of anarchy that LaPierre says already surrounds us.

I heard an interesting statistic today. The NRA, through its membership, represents 7% of the gun owners in the United States.

To listen to the NRA and its right-wing bloggers blah , you'd think the NRA represented 100%. Shocked

BRUNSWICK — The LePage administration has invited two gun and ammunition companies to relocate to Maine in the weeks after governors in those states signed strong gun control legislation.

Working with Portland-based Maine & Co., which helps businesses locate in Maine, the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development contacted the companies “within the last couple of weeks,” LePage spokeswoman Adrienne Bennett said Saturday. “We haven’t heard back anything, as far as I know.”

Bennett declined to name the companies.

The news follows an opinion column Friday for the Wall Street Journal in which Gov. Paul LePage added his voice to others in the country wooing firearms manufacturers to their states after what LePage said was “hostile” and “hysterical” anti-gun legislation.

Gun rights group endorses background-check bill

WASHINGTON — In anticipation of Senate votes this week on a proposed expansion of criminal background checks for firearms sales, one gun rights organization broke with the powerful National Rifle Association on Sunday to urge support for a compromise drafted by Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Patrick Toomey, R-Pa.

The endorsement by the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms — which calls itself the second-largest gun rights organization in the country behind the NRA, claiming 650,000 members and supporters — is one of several moves over the past few days that have provided a boost to the hopes of proponents of background-checks.

** Prior to 2011, most municipalities in Florida legally banned the discharge of firearms within city limits.

** In 2011, the NRA/Tea Party in Tallahassee, Florida changed the law regulating gun use, making it a state responsibility.

** Florida's 2011 NRA/Tea Party law pre-empted local and county firearms laws.

** The new NRA/Tea Party law forced cities to do away with laws that prohibited the discharge of firearms within city limits.

** Florida's new NRA/Tea Party law allows guns to be fired on private property.

** The new NRA/Tea Party law allows people to fire their guns in their backyards.

The Result of Florida's new NRA/Tea Party Firearm Law
69-year-old Bruce Fleming, who lives near Deltona, FL, was in his backyard this past Christmas morning when he was shot in the chest and killed.  The bullet that killed Mr. Fleming came from a neighbor's backyard.  The killing appears to be accidental.

As of 12/28/2013, no charges have been filed.

Thank god!  The NRA/Tea Party's rights have been preserved.

Bruce Fleming, a 69-year-old grandfather, was working in his backyard as his family prepared Christmas dinner.  His neighbors were firing guns on their land, and one of the bullets hit Fleming in the chest.

Fleming ought to have known better than to be wandering around his backyard on Christmas day.

Still, thankfully, no arrests have been made.  The NRA/Tea Party's Constitutionally guaranteed, God-given rights continue to be preserved.
