M.J. Newell: Voting system needs scrutiny

Mary Jane Newell

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

I fail to understand why having a photo ID in order to vote would be discrimination, as Democrats claim. The advantage of having a photo ID would be that the votes would be fair. No more voting multiple times by people who have no regard for fairness or the law. No more dead people voting. And no illegals voting.

We have to show an ID when we cash a check, go to court, get a job or get food stamps. Looks to me like the Democrats would lose a lot of votes, after all, that is their base. That must be why President Barack Obama and the Democrats are screaming their heads off and crying discrimination.

Obama had to show an ID when he voted in his state of Illinois.

Democrats claim there is no voter fraud. Huh?

Voter fraud shows its ugly head every election. Remember the hanging chads? They were caused by voters having several punch card ballots at a time (that is what New York Times reporters finally discovered).

Voting systems need to be scrutinized and made fair. There is too much opportunity for fraud. People need to know their votes are secure and the voting booth is not abused by illegal votes.

A voter ID is just the beginning.
