Candy's on record...
Let's wait and see if Candy's right. If she's wrong, I'll expect her to do the right thing and shut up.
BTW...doesn't it make sense to invest in the town while it has the resources, and then make adjustments if and when the mill goes into "demolition mode"?

By the end of 2016 Rumford's Mill will be in demolition mode. The people and most importantly Rumford government should be, but no doubt won't, start paring down and preparing for half of Rumford's valuation to vanish for 2016-2017 and rebating nearly all of what is collected on the insane assessed value set for 2015-2016. Rumford will shortly be joining Millinocket, E. Millinocket, Bucksport and more no longer has a mill towns.

Re: Candy's on record...
Now that he is off the board of selectmen former chair Greg Buccina seems to agree with Ms. Casey.

At some point raising taxes year after year after year on at best forty to fifty percent of your citizens, then you are not doing your job as a town manager or BOS. Portions of the fifteen or sixteen percent additional taxes 'needed' so to speak. could easily be derived by proposing changes within the budget that would give the tax payers a much needed break. But heaven forbid we do that.

Candy, I don't know why people don't listen to you? You have the knowledge, facts, and all the characteristics of a great leader! And like Trumpery, you're always right!

Rumford mill restarts machine No. 12, hiring workers back
RUMFORD – Shut down since May 2015, Catalyst Paper company's No. 12 paper machine was restarted Tuesday, allowing 51 employees who were laid off in May 2015 to return to their jobs.
Tony Lyons, spokesman for the mill, said the machine resumed production at a reduced schedule and all 51 workers who were laid off have been asked if they wish to return to their prior position.
"Right now, we have 32 people working on the No. 12 paper machine," Lyons said, adding that the mill is hiring new workers to fill more positions.
