Old Foundation Empty Old Foundation

There's an old foundation between Route 2 and the river, across from Judy's Variety (Zink's).
Does anyone know what it was? It seems too deep to have been a house foundation.

It may be where JSN conducts her induction ceremonies.... just a guess. Look for bones.

steve, Judy's is on the right about an eighth of a mile past the top of Falls Hill heading west. (It's next door to Sam's.) The foundation I'm talking about is a bit past that. Thanks.

OK, now I think I know the area you're talking about. The only thing that comes to mind is: on Prospect Avenue (old Route 2) there used to be an "ice house" where they stored and sold ice for the old "ice boxes". Perhaps the foundation was for a building associated with that enterprise. BTW, I can remember going inside that icehouse in the middle of August and seeing huge slabs of ice covered in sawdust awaiting cutting and distribution. My father said that he delivered ice as a young man carrying 100-pound blocks up flights of stairs in the area's various apartment buildings.

I believe that this foundation goes back to the original Dam built by Chisolm. I am not sure if it was the control area or what its use was.
