There are Constitutional rights which govern all 50 states, but each state has the right to set their own laws also. Depending on which state you live in varies on what those rights and laws constitute. Lesson to learn here is know your rights and also know the laws where you live and abide by them. Also don't hold it against someone who is paid to enforce those laws, they did not create them. They are only carrying out the duty they were sworn to.
