Economy claims two more mills
The River Valley area lucks out again...
One sawmill on Prince Edward Island and another in northern Maine will shut down permanently, J. D. Irving, Limited announced Tuesday.
Some of the 64 employees will move to the Irving sawmill in Dixfield, Maine, near Lewiston, and to Irving woodlands operations in Maine. Another five will continue to operate the wood yard at the Pinkham Sawmill site, receiving logs from company and private land.
