Once again, The Rumford Reporter misleads with an incorrect headline:

LaMarche Steps Down for Financial Reasons But The Casino Effort Moves Forward

Pat LaMarche left Evergreen Mountain Enterprises for ethical reasons, NOT financial reasons as stated by The Rumford Reporter. LaMarche has made it clear that continuing to represent Evergreen Mountain Enterprises (not a casino project) would be contrary to her ethical standards.

Below are excerpts from LaMarche's news release announcing her resignation:

“It is with a heavy heart that I turn my back on what I truly believed to be a remarkable opportunity for Oxford County in particular and Maine in general.”

“I can't remember the last time that I quit something. I'm just not a quitter.”

“I was supposed to represent the project, not be a shield behind which they would hide moral failings and disreputable conduct.”

“I've promised the people of Maine I would never lie to them and if I keep this job, I would have to break that promise.”

There was one thing different about this article. It says it's written by the TRR staff and speaks as though TRR is sponsoring the Casino. Was that written be Carey or is the TRR helping run the Casino effort now?

Actually, it says it was submitted by The Rumford Reporter.
