Re: Government Shut Down!
Isn't it ironic that by shutting down the government, the Republican/Tea Party is blaming President Obama and the Democrats for blocking the critical healthcare needs of kids with cancer, when the only obstacle to passing a budget and opening up government is the Republican/Tea Party's relentless objection to "government-run" healthcare (Affordable Care Act).

Re: Government Shut Down!
Boehner: "We're not going to pass a clean debt limit increase. I told the President, there's no way we're going to pass one. The votes are not in the House to pass a clean debt limit, and the President is risking default by not having a conversation with us."
Boehner also said that there were not the votes to pass a "clean" continuing resolution to keep the government running without a "conversation".
So Boehner will not allow our elected representatives to vote on these two issues! And yet, Boehner allowed the House of Representatives to vote 41 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act knowing full well "the votes are (were) not in the House to repeal Obamacare". Senater Chuck Schumer challenged Boehner to put the issue to a vote next week.
Schumer: "I would bet there are the votes to pass it."
In all seriousness, how do you people vote for these Republican/Tea Party creeps?

Re: Government Shut Down!
President Obama has "caved" (compromised) on every item the Republican/Tea Partiers have brought to the table, but one. The Affordable Care Act.
And yet, Obama is the one who will not negotiate?
What's even more laughable, Republican/Tea Party bloggers are describing Obama as the weakest president in history because he "caves" on everything.
It's just another example of Republican/Tea Party Hypocracy.

Re: Government Shut Down!
So now that the Republican/Tea Party leaders (not Canadian born Ted Cruz) have backed down on their de-funding/delay of the ACA, Harry Reid and the Democrats are insisting on spending increases!
It's time to throw all of them out!

Re: Government Shut Down!
There was a compromise, BUT the Tea Party Republicans said NO. So, we are heading to default.
Fitch Ratings took a step toward cutting the U.S. government's AAA debt rating Tuesday, as the clock ticked toward the Thursday deadline to raise the nation's debt ceiling or risk default.
Chicago-based Fitch, the third-largest of the major debt-rating companies behind Standard & Poor's and Moody's Investors Service, put U.S. Treasury bonds on Rating Watch Negative, which is sometimes but not always a first step before a downgrade.

You'll think the 2008 "Great Recession" was a walk in the park compared to what will happen to our economy if the Tea Party Republicans are allowed to drive us over the default cliff.
BTW...it is the Tea Party's "official" position that defaulting would be no big deal.

Re: Government Shut Down!
So, the Canadian born Ted Cruz shut down cost the taxpayer an estimated $24 billion, lost services, damage to the United States reputation and credit rating.
All for what?
The Republican/Tea Party gained essentially one thing by shutting down the government and threatening default: A requirement that those people seeking healthcare subsidies be required to document their income before receiving benefits.
WOW!
That was worth it.
Boehner is the weakest Speaker in history for allowing the wackos in his Republican/Tea Party to run the show.

Re: Government Shut Down!
So, Canadian born Ted Cruz (et al) refuses to take any responsibility for the government shut down, the default threat, and the collateral damage that his effort caused. I think Teddy has been drinking a little too much of the adult "kool-aid" .
I suppose, if he keeps repeating the same lie, eventually it'll become the truth (at least in his own mind).
