The IAFF Local 1601 is the Rumford Fire Department. I presume they retired the old web page and replaced it with this new and improved version. You're not anti-union too I hope!

I believe that the IAFF represents the full time members of the fire department. There are also call force members and a Chief. It is a town department, not a contracted service. There is a union agreement, but that does not give the union exclusive authority over the department.

If you look, you will find that the mill has a separate web site from the unions who work there. This is how I believed the Rumford web site was set up. It appears I was wrong. the domain appears to be registered to the union. This means that the web site I believed to belong to the town of Rumford, is actually a union web site. The Rumford Fire Department does not have a web site.

And before you argue that this is the department web site, look at the copyright at the bottom. It is that of the union, not the town. The previous web site had couple of pages representing the union, but it appeared to be a department web site. This one is quite obviously a union web site.

I spoke with Arthur Boivin who informed me that the town owns the web site. It is unclear how the union took it over.

If you look hard enough at anything, you will find something "disagreeable", if you so choose. I choose NOT to be that way. There are many more important things to be concerned with than this. Nit-picking is not becoming of anyone. Choose your battle. Maybe you should just let some things slide rather than trying to shir the sh*t.

Kevin, the new site caries the following: "© Copyright 2008, IAFF Local 1601, All Rights Reserved" I would guess that the union owns that site. If you have questions about the old site, you should ask the TM or the BOS.

You are correct, the Union owns the web site. The town did own in up until recently. The site contains FD info but is a Union web site. Hope this clears up any confusion there might be.
