Hackers,
While I too disagree with what Jennifer, et. al. are doing with TRR, I am disappointed that you have sunk to this level. It is legally and ethically reprehensible.

Kevin

P.S. At least now you know that I am not involved in TRR.

Although we agree that much of the information on TRR is inaccurate and/or irresponsible, we condemn the act of hacking into another’s site. The River Valley Free Press and the Rumford Free Press have no idea who the above named individuals are. We have never hacked another site. We call on the members of Hack Rumford to cease and desist this behavior towards TRR, The Free Press sites or any other sites

I thought it was a joke until I saw this:

ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING YOUR E-MAIL SUBSCRIPTION TO THE RUMFORD REPORTER

Submitted by TRR Staff at 7/20/2008 09:32:00 PM

Due to a computer gliche in the system, you may have noticed that you are no longer receiving e-mail updates from the site. That's okay. Just sign up again and you will get those e-mail updates again. Thank you for reading the Rumford Reporter. As always, we welcome any articles, stories, schedules, announcements, news tips, etc. Please send them to the oops.com. Have a GREAT day!!!

I'm beginning to believe it's a hoax. Anyone could claim they hacked into a website. "Hack Rumford" really didn't do or saying anything that one could say was positive proof.

I received a call from one person who claimed that he could not access the site fpr a while. He claimed that the site required a subscription password.

You don't suppose this is a TRR ploy do you? They were always the ones who threatened to have hackers in their employ.

I tried to go there this morning at 7 ish and it took me to a page titled. I am an idiot.com (no joke)

I think I have managed to clean all of the coffee off my monitor!

If accessed with the password, I do not think it would be considered "hacking", rather, it would be considered taking advantage of a case of "civic stupidity".

well, since you asked...

I change my passwords regularly. It is advised that you use a longer password, not a shorter one, and that it is not easily identified using personal information. One password that I used to use is a nick-name I had for my daughter's brother when he was younger. I never used it outside of the house, and it was not easy to guess. Another suggestion is to combine two unrelated passwords into one longer password. The more complex, the better.

Under what premise? Unless I've missed something, I haven't yet seen any behavior that would warrant removing posting
priveleges. RVFP is in no way involved in or condoning the actions of Hack Rumford and you must admit his opening post
made for interesting reading...

Isn't human nature interesting? I get pegged as an execssive poster for 75 posts, while C has almost 100 posts, and T has as many as I do. It is interesting that people who disagree with a viewpoint consider the expression of the viewpoint to be excessive even though it is in the minority. I guess that is just how the human mind works.

I too wish her well with her deployment and a safe journey back home. I've never met this person but those emotions appear to already be manifested negatively. Negativity and anger distances people and could cause a person to disassociate in defense of that rejection. This person has much to offer the community but needs to acquire the ability to induce change or communicate hurtful information without offending through the use of consideration, compassion, kindness and reason. The approach used now, through TRR and LR especially, seems to be promoting ill-will.

Just tried to access TRR. My Symantec security came up saying it was a fraudulent site and to NOT access it. Does anyone know anything about this? The Symantec also said something about phishing.

A phishing web site tries to steal sensitive or confidential information. My suspicion with them was that they might be using malicious javascript to infect other computers with viruses, trojans or tracking cookies. The likely scenario is that they were "hacked" by Hack Rumford and are now trying to set it up to look like the intruder did worse than just a bit of embarrassing mischief.
