Jennifer Stowell Norris has to be one of the most ignorant people I've ever seen.

The Rumford Reporter I was really surprised to see this license plate come out of Washington DC. What does that tell you?

For those of you who do not know, the citizens of the District of Columbia do not have voting representation in Congress.

The United States Constitution grants congressional voting representation to the states. DC is not a state, but a federal territory and operates under the complete authority of Congress. Hence, taxation without representation.

It's an old issue that has been discussed, debated, and attempted to be remedied since the District was founded (1790-1801). Conservative wackos like to bring this issue up occasionally as evidence that Liberals are out of control and taking over our lives.

The issue has resurfaced recently on Conservative blogs due to the election of Barack Obama. Read Jennifer Stowell Norris' Facebook page and you'll see that the wackos responding really don't know the history and that their outrage is entirely misplaced.
